MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. Former absolute world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. may assume office in the Russian Boxing Federation, the organization's Secretary General Kirill Shchekutyev told TASS.
Shchekutyev was unanimously appointed as the Federation’s secretary general during the Federation’s report and election conference Friday, replacing Umar Kremlyov, who was elected as the president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
"Roy plans to come to Russia shortly," Shchekutyev said. "We will meet with him and will certainly discuss this. We would also like to see him in some status in the Russian Boxing Federation. He is a big patriot of our country; he did a lot to popularize boxing."
"We are ready to work in this field together," the official added.
