MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The majority of Russians (80%) report that they have been pranked on April Fool’s Day at some point in their lives. However, almost half of those surveyed say they themselves don’t like to play jokes on their friends and family on April Fool's Day, according to polling data from the Weber public opinion research agency, a project of the Dialogue and Dialogue Regions non-profit organizations, which were made available to TASS.
According to the poll results, 79% of Russians have been pranked by someone close to them at some stage in their lives. On April Fool's Day, 48% do not play jokes on their friends and close relatives, while 40% do. People aged 55 and older are more likely to play jokes on this day.
Some respondents (8%) admitted that their April Fool’s jokes did not go over well. In addition, 57% of people have had an experience where they did not take the jokes made at their expense well.
The overwhelming majority of Russians (96%) like funny content, including memes and joke videos. Thus, 53% often watch humorous content, 36% sometimes, and 8% rarely.
According to the majority of respondents (58%), there is enough humorous content on the internet today. 15% claim there is too much, with respondents aged 35 to 44 more likely to make this statement.
The poll was conducted by the Dialogue Regions non-profit organization on March 20, 2024, using the River Sampling method on 1,200 respondents aged 18 and older.
