MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/. Russian tourists travelling to Ethiopia are now able to obtain a vises in an airport upon arrival, Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia Cham Ugala Uriat told TASS.
"The government of Ethiopia decided that Russian tourists can arrive in Addis Ababa from anywhere and they will be provided a visa upon arrival. Thus, it is no longer necessary to visit the embassy to obtain a visa. Those, who would like to visit the country for business purposes, can visit the embassy and obtain a visa; tourists, however, yes, will be able to obtain a visa upon arrival in the airport. This is a step that the Ethiopian government took just recently," the diplomat noted.
He added that Russia and Ethiopia are working to abolish tourist visas in the future.
The envoy noted that Ethiopia enjoys a diversity of tourist attractions and houses numerous discoveries that could be interesting to foreigners for educational purposes. For example, the country hosts the 3.2-million-year-old skeleton of Australopithecus afarensis, known as "Lucy."
"There are different tribes living in Ethiopia, with various languages and various customs, and, you know, this attracts tourists," the diplomat added.
