Earthquake survivor saved by Russian rescuers in Syria

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras on Monday

MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Russian rescuers have saved an earthquake survivor in the Syrian city of Jabla, the Russian emergencies ministry said on Tuesday.

"In Syria, Russian rescuers have saved the first earthquake survivor in the city of Jabla. It is a 26-year-old man. He had stayed under the debris for two days," it wrote on its Telegram channel.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras on Monday. The quake was followed by about 300 aftershocks, which were felt in ten regions of Turkey, as well as in neighboring countries, including Syria. According to the latest data, more than 3,500 people have been killed and over 20,000 have been injured in Turkey. The death toll from the earthquake in Syria exceeds 1,500 and more than 3,500 have been injured.
