Around 558 bln rubles ($7.4 bln) worth of federal and regional budget funds will be allocated for modernization of Russia’s primary care setting in five years, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said at a meeting with regional ministers and deputy governors on Friday.

"That amount will be adjusted upwards each year. Currently 558 bln rubles worth of federal and regional budget funds [are planned to be allocated] in upcoming five years, with 100 bln rubles [planned to be allocated] in 2021," she said.

More than 3,000 health facilities will participate in the process of primary care setting modernization this year, Golikova said.

The primary care setting modernization started on January 1, 2021, in all Russian regions. It is expected to take around five years. The program is mainly aimed at making medical help available for residents of small settlements and remote areas of the country.
