HAIKOU, November 4. /TASS/. South China's Hainan will start the 21st International Tourism Carnival on November 20, which will focus on diversifying and developing new types of recreation, reported the local authorities.

The holiday is organized by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the government of Hainan. "Many events will take place everywhere. <...> This time the carnival is dedicated to promoting new types of tourism, stimulating sales of promising tourism products, developing new routes for travel," the deputy head of the regional department for tourism, culture, television and radio broadcasting and sports Liu Cheng.

According to the official, the festivities will run until the end of 2020. They will be held not only in the administrative center of Haikou, where a key part of the carnival will be presented to the public, but also in other parts of the province — in Sanya (south), Danzhou (west), in Qionghai and Wanning (east), as well as in Lingshui-Li autonomous county (southeast).

Cultural and entertainment program

As the official specified, special attention will be paid to boosting consumption. In order to do so, in particular, it is planned to hold the 5th World Entertainment Tourism Fair and the 6th International Gastronomy Fair. Moreover, exhibition events will take place where visitors will be able to learn more about the wide range of equipment and accessories used by tourists and travel agencies when organizing cultural recreation both in the city and in the countryside, on the beaches, in the mountains, in tropical forests.

A car race dubbed "Across the Mountains to the Sea", one of the notable events organized by the island authorities will be held on December 12. The rally will take place in three places - in Sanya, in the city of Baotin, located in the north, and in the territory of the nearby Lingshui-Li Autonomous County. The 5th Tourism Promotion Forum will also be held in Boao. In total, 17 large-scale programs are planned, which are expected to become an exciting addition to the carnival.

The series of events will wrap up on the last day of 2020 at the grand duty free mall in Sanya. More holidaymakers are expected to visit the island through this program to enjoy the cultural program and take part in sports.

"A presentation of total of 170 cultural and entertainment projects is planned <...> which will strengthen the ties of our province with other regions of China, intensify cooperation with other countries, and raise the status of Hainan as a tourist island of international level," Liu Cheng summed up.

Last year, Hainan International Carnival kicked off on November 22. Like this time, a busy program was presented to residents and visitors of the island for six weeks, which included the Strawberry Music Festival, an international beauty contest, a yacht show, a marathon and even a boxing championship. As the organizers emphasize, the main goal of the holiday is "the integration of the entertainment industry, tourism, culture and art."
