Russia’s space agency expects proposals from US on spring flight to orbital outpost

NASA informed earlier that it was considering obtaining an additional seat for a US astronaut aboard a Russian Soyuz manned spacecraft to fly to the International Space Station this spring

MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos understands the importance of a fully staffed crew aboard the International Space Station and expects specific proposals from the US on the April flight to the orbital outpost, the Roscosmos press office told TASS on Wednesday.

"We expect that we will formalize the relations with the partners on this April flight," Roscosmos said.

Roscosmos understands the importance of further cooperation in outer space, the press office added.

The US space agency said in a statement on Wednesday it was considering obtaining an additional seat for a US astronaut aboard a Russian Soyuz manned spacecraft to fly to the International Space Station this spring.

Securing an additional Soyuz seat assures the back-up capability of at least one US crew member aboard the International Space Station in the event of a problem with either US spacecraft, NASA specified.
