Siberian, US universities to launch forest biosecurity project

The universities signed an agreement on forest biosecurity cooperation in July 2018

TYUMEN, March 15. /TASS/. A forest biosecurity center will open at the University of Tyumen on March 21, its press service said on Friday.

This is the first joint project of universities of Tyumen and Northern Arizona (Flagstaff, US), which aims to control the spread of pests in the forests. 

"A group of American students headed by leading forest entomologist Professor Rich Hofstette is expected to arrive in Tyumen in May to carry out joint field work," Dr. Andrei Tolstikov, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs was quoted as saying.

The universities signed an agreement on forest biosecurity cooperation in July 2018.
