Russophobic policy of countries doesn’t reflect people’s moods — Metropolitan Anthony

He noted that during his visits to the countries whose governments criticize Russia’s actions he saw that the attitudes of the authorities and ordinary people "are two disjoint realities"

BUENOS AIRES, February 9. /TASS/. The Russophobic policy pursued by some countries does not reflect the moods of the majority of their residents, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, said on Wednesday.

"What is going on today is a kind of foam that will finally vanish, since it cannot last endlessly, the majority of people understand that what is happening today is absolutely abnormal and doesn’t reflect the moods of the bulk of people in the countries where it is happening," he said.

He noted that during his visits to the countries whose governments criticize Russia’s actions he saw that the attitudes of the authorities and ordinary people "are two disjoint realities." "In these countries, I saw a stormy reaction at the top political level to the fact that a Russian Orthodox Church hierarch has arrived in this country and conducts liturgical services and public meetings. But when speaking to people living in these countries, walking around these cities in a robe with a panagia on my chest, I was met benevolently by people," he recalled.
