MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov compared proposals by Kiev and Europe for the Ukrainian settlement in the area of human rights to a "treaty of tolerance."
In an interview with the Empathy Manuchi online project Lavrov recalled Washington's proposals for resolving the Ukrainian crisis, noting that "the American proposals included the need to restore the rights of Russian-speaking people and Russians as a national minority." "That's what it's called, even though the concept of national minority itself is hardly applicable to Russians in Ukraine. Nevertheless, they had it in their documents," he pointed out.
"The latest versions that leaked to the press following the intensive negotiations between the Americans, Europeans, and Ukrainians taking place after Alaska, say nothing about this. They say that the parties (Russia and Ukraine) will show tolerance toward each other," he stated. "Such a ‘treaty of tolerance’, you know," he said.
