MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. People across Ukraine have started to understand that there is a direct link between the Ukrainian army’s strikes on Russian civilian facilities and energy supply disruptions in their own country, a member of the pro-Russian underground network told TASS.
"Such strikes often alarm people and provoke quiet protests rather than support. The main reason why people in Ukraine are worried is that they have been without stable electricity supplies for months. <...> People understand perfectly well that strikes on Russian facilities will inevitably trigger more frequent and more severe attacks on [infrastructure in] Ukraine," he said.
"Notably, Verkhovna Rada [parliament] members are sending out the same sad message, claiming that they don’t have electricity, too. However, it’s not true, and people [in Ukraine] see through it. This is why lawmakers keep talking about ‘tit-for-tat responses’ and ‘the Ukrainian people’s resilience: it’s better to sip hot tea in a warm office than sit in the dark and cold,’" the underground network member added.
