Ukraine’s army trying to hold three communities in Kursk Region — Akhmat commander

According to Apty Alaudinov, the Ukrainian army is failing in this attempt and suffering heavy casualties

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army is trying to hold only three communities in Russia’s borderline Kursk Region, suffering heavy casualties, Deputy Chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ Main Military-Political Department, Akhmat Special Forces Commander Lieutenant General Apty Alaudinov said on Monday.

"They are trying to hold only three communities by any forces and capabilities but, in actual fact, they are failing in this attempt. I cannot count in advance how many bodies of our enemy there will be but I think that they are suffering very serious casualties and this is what they are doing," the senior Russian commander said during a live broadcast on the Rossiya-1 television channel.

The Ukrainian military launched a massive attack on the Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. As Russia’s General Staff reported, Russian forces have liberated over 86% of the territory occupied by Ukrainian troops by now. Residents are being evacuated from the liberated town of Sudzha. In some frontline sectors, Russian forces have entered Ukraine’s Sumy Region.

According to the data of Russia’s Defense Ministry, Kiev has lost over 68,000 troops since its incursion in the Kursk Region.
