West encourages hacker attacks on Russia — Russian Security Council

Western intelligence agencies sue IT capabilities to attack Russian critical infrastructure facilities and for intelligence operations, Rashid Nurgaliyev said

MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Western states encourage hacker attacks on Russia and use computer technologies to harm Russia themselves, Russian Security Council First Deputy Secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev said in an interview for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"Such features of computer technologies as anonymity and cross-border capability are being used by the criminal community in our country and beyond. Meanwhile, authorities of the US, the UK and the states that they control encourage trans-national activities of hacker groups and individual criminals, if their actions can harm the economy and security of our country, as well as to affect the public opinion negatively," he pointed out.

It is a known fact, he continued, that Western intelligence agencies sue IT capabilities to attack Russian critical infrastructure facilities and for intelligence operations.
