Russia refuses to play ball with UN commission on human rights in Ukraine — MFA

Maria Zakharova noted that the document, which she said is out of touch with reality and directed against Russia, was supported by "27 delegations, while 17 abstained and three voted against"

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Moscow does not recognize the mandate of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry for Ukraine and refuses to interact with it, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"A resolution on human rights in Ukraine, initiated by Kiev, was passed with the support of its Western sponsors. It addresses the situation created by what they call 'Russian aggression.' The document extended <...> the mandate of the so-called Independent International Commission of Inquiry for Ukraine for another year. <...> We don’t recognize the mandate of the aforementioned commission and reaffirm our position, rejecting any form of interaction with this absolutely illegitimate mechanism," she pointed out at a briefing.

Zakharova noted that the document, which she said is out of touch with reality and directed against Russia, was supported by "27 delegations, while 17 abstained and three voted against." "Notably, slightly more than half of the UN Council [on Human Rights] member states backed the resolution. This makes it clear that the international community understands the political motivation and bias of the Kiev regime’s initiative," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed.
