MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev sees no reason to regret the reportedly violent death in Spain of air pilot Maxim Kuzminov, who hijacked a Russian military helicopter in 2023.

"To a dog, a dog's death!" Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media, including TASS. An extract of this interview was uploaded to Medvedev's Telegram channel.

Medvedev refrained from elaborating or commenting on how exactly Kuzminov died. "I said everything I wanted to say," Medvedev said.

On February 19, the Spanish news agency EFE confirmed, citing sources familiar with the progress in the investigation, Kuzminov's death in Spain. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, too, confirmed that Kuzminov was dead.

The press service of the provincial Civil Guard has told TASS that the authorities were investigating the alleged murder of a 33-year-old Ukrainian citizen in the Valencian Community. His body bearing gunshot wounds was reportedly found in a garage in the Province of Alicante. The guards did not rule out that the documents found on the body might turn out to be forgeries.
