Novovoronezh NPP continues to operate normally after Ukrainian drone attack thwarted

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses destroyed five Ukrainian drones and intercepted another three over the Voronezh Region in the early hours of Tuesday

VORONEZH, January 16. /TASS/. The Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant located 45 kilometers from the Russian city of Voronezh continues to operate normally after a Ukrainian drone attack was thwarted in the region, according to a statement on the facility’s Telegram account.

"The Novovoronezh NPP continues to operate normally. The No. 4, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 power units are operating normally, carrying a load of 3,788 MW in line with the dispatch schedule. There were no violations of limits and conditions of the safe operation of the Novovoronezh NPP’s power units," the statement reads.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses destroyed five Ukrainian drones and intercepted another three over the Voronezh Region in the early hours of Tuesday. Regional Governor Alexander Gusev said that drone fragments had hit an apartment building in the city of Voronezh, leaving a ten-year-old girl injured. One of the building's balconies caught fire and windows in four more houses were shattered. A state of emergency was declared in the city.
