MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The current situation in the world is extremely tense, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video address to a meeting of secretaries of CIS security councils.
"We can see that the international situation remains extremely difficult and tense. Long-standing conflicts have escalated and new conflicts have emerged in various regions," he pointed out.
"Renewed tensions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have been triggered <...> in the Middle East, making civilians suffer the most," the Russian president stressed.
Putin noted that regular meetings of the secretaries of CIS security councils were of great importance for strengthening and boosting the organization’s collective security, ensuring the sovereignty and national interests of its member states, as well as their stable social and economic development.
"The agenda of your 11th meeting is very busy and meaningful. You are expected to discuss the situation in the region and the world in general, share your expertise and practices to boost the protection of our citizens against internal and external threats and outline future joint steps," Putin added.
