Russia monitors situation around Trump, but does not give assessments — senior diplomat

The presidential election will be held in the United States in November 2024

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Russia is doing its best to monitor the situation with former US President Donald Trump, who has been charged with doctoring financial records, but Moscow does not give its assessments of the situation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on Wednesday.

"This is the US’ domestic affairs. We monitor the situation as we can. The US election campaign is close, it will probably be rather difficult, but this is their domestic affairs. Here we have no position, no stance, and there can be no assessment of all of this," the senior Russian diplomat said.

The presidential election will be held in the United States in November 2024. Former President Donald Trump announced his intention to run in November 2022. Since last autumn, Biden has been hinting that he hopes to be re-elected.

On March 30, Trump was indicted by a grand jury in New York over an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, which involved the falsification of the Trump Organization’s business records. Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of doctoring the business records with the intent to commit a separate crime. According to media outlets, each count is punishable by up to four years in prison.
