Ukrainian presidential advisor rejects possibility of temporary ceasefire

Switzerland’s Neue Zurcher Zeitung newspaper earlier reported, citing sources, that US President Joe Biden had ordered his CIA chief to find out if Russia and Ukraine were ready for talks

KIEV, February 6. /TASS/. Any bid for a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine was ruled out by Advisor to the Ukrainian Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak on Monday.

"Concessions always mean surrender and we will not accept it under any circumstances. A temporary ceasefire will only lead to the next phase of the war in Ukraine," Podolyak wrote on Telegram.

Switzerland’s Neue Zurcher Zeitung newspaper earlier reported, citing sources, that US President Joe Biden had ordered his CIA chief to find out if Russia and Ukraine were ready for talks. According to the paper, Washington suggested that Ukraine give up 20% of its territory in exchange for peace but both Moscow and Kiev allegedly rejected the option. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied media reports about the US allegedly coming up with a plan involving territorial concessions from Ukraine in exchange for peace.
