Kiev must abstain from military action in grain corridor — foreign ministry

Sergey Vershinin at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Russia also discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation within international formats, first of all within the Black Sea Initiative on the export of food from Ukrainian ports, following Kiev’s recent terror attack in Sevastopol

MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Kiev must guarantee that it will not use the grain corridor in the Black Sea for military purposes, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said at a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Russia Mehmet Samsar on Tuesday.

"The Russian side stressed that Ukraine must guarantee that the humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea will not be used for military purposes," the Russian foreign ministry said in a press statement posted on its website.

The two diplomats also discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation within international formats, first of all within the Black Sea Initiative on the export of food from Ukrainian ports, following Kiev’s recent terror attack in Sevastopol.

The Russian defense ministry said on October 29 that the Kiev regime "with participation of specialists from the United Kingdom" had committed a terror attack in Sevastopol against Russian Black Sea Fleet ships and civilian vessels engaged to ensure security of the grain corridor. According to the ministry, Kiev used nine drones and seven autonomous marine unmanned vehicles. All of them were destroyed. Later in the day, the ministry announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the grain deal.
