Russian forces destroy two Ukrainian pontoon bridges in Krasny Liman area — top brass

It is reported that over 80 Ukrainian servicemen, eight combat armored vehicles and four pickup trucks were destroyed

MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Russian troops destroyed two Ukrainian army’s pontoon bridges across the Zherebets River in the Krasny Liman direction in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), thwarting the enemy’s attempt to cross the river, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Tuesday.

"In the Krasny Liman direction, up to two company tactical groups of the Ukrainian army again attempted to cross the Zherebets River towards the settlements of Raigorodka and Novovodyanoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic. By preemptive firepower, two floating bridges were destroyed. Up to 20 Ukrainian troops and four pickup trucks were eliminated," the spokesman said.

Russian artillery wiped out over 80 servicemen of the Ukrainian army’s 66th mechanized brigade that advanced to help its forces in the Krasny Liman direction, the general said.

"A company of the Ukrainian army’s 66th mechanized brigade that moved forward to help them was caught in a minefield where a part of military equipment was blown up. The personnel were struck by Russian artillery fire," the spokesman said.

As a result, "over 80 Ukrainian servicemen, eight combat armored vehicles and four pickup trucks were destroyed," Konashenkov reported.
