MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. The Kremlin sees no need for using official accounts on social networks, namely on the Clubhouse social network, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday, noting that the government has enough information channels to reach Russian citizens.

"The Kremlin has no official accounts on social networks as such. We have one on Twitter, but it’s not a direct account, it basically mirrors the feed on our website," he said, answering a question on whether the presidential administration considers Clubhouse an interesting means of communication with the audience. "We still think that the existing mechanisms of spreading our information are enough to reach the public," he stressed.

Peskov did not mention any advantages or disadvantages of the new social network that is quickly gaining popularity. "I think it wouldn’t be right for us to comment on this. This network is trending now, it’s true. At least, in Russia, there is a great deal of interest among citizens and political experts," he said. Nevertheless, Peskov stated that it is not his place to say whether a social network is good or bad.

Commenting on the offer made by Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Tesla, to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Clubhouse social network, Peskov noted that the Kremlin "is currently working on finding out what Mr. Musk means by this invite - communication on this network or communication in general." "So far, we have no exact details. We do not have the information, but we expect that over the coming days, the details of this offer will be cleared up for us," he said.

Earlier, Musk mentioned the Kremlin’s official account on Twitter, inviting President Vladimir Putin to have a conversation on the Clubhouse social network.
