Wildfire near Russia’s Gelendzhik surges to 41.5 hectares — ministry

The fire broke out in the Gelendzhik forestry after a drone was shot down in the area in the early hours of Thursday

MOSCOW, August 29. /TASS/. The wildfire that erupted near Russia’s southern city of Gelendzik due to falling drone debris has surged to 41.5 hectares, an Emergencies Ministry spokesperson told TASS.

"The fire has expanded to cover an area of 41.5 hectares," the spokesperson noted.

The fire broke out in the Gelendzhik forestry after a drone was shot down in the area in the early hours of Thursday. A boat was sent to evacuate tourists from a nearby beach.
