Miner found dead after mine collapses in Russia’s Urals

The body of the deceased will be sent for further forensic medical examination

YEKATERINBURG, March 25. /TASS/. A miner was killed following a collapse at the Kalinskaya mine in the Russian Urals’ Sverdlovsk Region, the press office of the SeveroUralsk Bauxite Mine (SUBM) enterprise announced on Monday.

"Miner Kirill Loskutov has died. The SUBM will provide the relatives of the deceased with all the required assistance. The family of the deceased will be provided with three million rubles [over $32,340] in compensation," the enterprise announced.

The body of the deceased will be sent for further forensic medical examination. The other miner, who survived and was rescued, will also be sent for a medical examination to establish the degree of his injuries.

"The rescue operation to save miners at the Kalinskaya mine took almost a day," the enterprise’s press office stated. "Unfortunately, one of the miners was discovered dead. His partner was found unconscious and was immediately taken to the emergency room at a local hospital."

A pressure burst was reported on the morning of March 25 at the Kalinskaya mine, which belongs to the SeveroUralsk Bauxite Mine (SUBM) enterprise. The mine caved in following the reported burst and two miners working at the scene at that time were buried under the rubble. One of them was later rescued and taken to a local hospital.
