Fire breaks out at Moscow Metro’s Sportivnaya station due to motor malfunction

Passengers evacuated

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. A fire broke out at Moscow Metro’s Sportivnaya station due to an electric motor malfunction. No one was injured in the incident. The station has been temporarily shut down for passenger, the Moscow Department of Transportation reported on its Telegram channel Tuesday.

"The Sportivnaya station is temporarily shut down for passengers. Trains going from the center do not stop at the station. The fire was caused by an electric motor malfunction; no passenger was hurt," the Department said, adding that emergency services are already working at the station.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Moscow Department, the fire has already been extinguished, with remaining smoke being ventilated at the moment. All passengers were evacuated from the station, the Department said, adding that no injured people have been reported during the incident.
