Businesswoman injured in car blast in Berdyansk

The bomb yield was some 200 grams of TNT

MELITOPOL, January 24. /TASS/. A businesswoman was hurt in an explosion involving a makeshift bomb which was planted in her car in Berdyansk, in the Zaporozhye region, a local law enforcement spokesman said on Tuesday.

"A businesswoman received minor injuries in the explosion of an improvised bomb in Berdyansk. She was driving her car when an improvised explosive device detonated under her back seat. She suffered a mild concussion and was taken to a hospital," the spokesman said.

According to preliminary data, the bomb yield was some 200 grams of TNT.

Meanwhile, the leader of the We Are Together with Russia movement, Vladimir Rogov, told TASS that the woman had received many threats. "Details are being verified. <…> According to preliminary information, it was a terror attack because she had been receiving threats," he said, adding that she ran an animal charity and supported the local authorities’ efforts toward normalizing life in the city.
