Retreating Ukrainian units blow up nitric acid tank at chemical plant in Severodonetsk

According to the head of the Main Center for Defense Control of Russia, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, civilians were injured

MOSCOW, June 2. /TASS/. Retreating units of Ukraine’s 79th Air Assault Brigade blew up a tank containing nitric acid at the Azot chemical plant in Severodonetsk, exposing civilians to the toxic substance, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Wednesday.

"On May 31 at about 7.00 p.m. Moscow time, the retreating units of the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces blew up a cistern containing a poisonous chemical substance (nitric acid) at the Azot enterprise in Severodonetsk, in order to stop the advancing units of the Russian Armed Forces and the Donetsk People’s Republic by creating a chemical contamination area. After the detonation, an orange-colored toxic cloud rose (to an altitude of about one kilometer) and then floated towards Kremennaya and Rubezhnoye," said Mizintsev, who heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters in Ukraine.

According to the colonel general, "Ukrainian neo-Nazis were not stopped by the fact that innocent civilians suffered in this terrorist attack involving a toxic substance."

Mizintsev pointed out that the Kiev regime had once again revealed its criminal and cynical nature, as "terror and genocide against their own people have become the norm for Ukraine."

"We once again emphasize that while accomplishing the tasks of the special military operation, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation offer comprehensive support and assistance to civilians, treat the civilian population in an exceptionally humane manner, and do not carry out strikes on the country’s vital facilities, unlike the Ukrainian armed formations," the general stressed.
