Two Uzbek nationals detained in Russia in terrorism funding case

According to FSB, the two men established a cell to raise funds for militants in the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Two Uzbek nationals have been detained in Russia’s Tomsk and Novosibirsk regions in a terrorism funding case, a law enforcement source told TASS.

"As a result of an investigation into the funding of the Katibat al-Tawhid wal-Jihad terrorist group, part of the pro-Turkish Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham organization [outlawed in Russia], Uzbek nationals who established a cell to raise funds for militants have been detained in the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions," the source said, adding that the two had been apprehended by Federal Security Service (FSB) officers.

According to the source, law enforcement agencies are now trying to identify a terrorist fundraiser in Syria.
