One dead in house gas explosion in Nizhny Novgorod region

Three people were hospitalized

April 8. / TASS /. Three people were hospitalized after a gas explosion and the collapse of part of the house in the Vachsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Emergencies Ministry local press service told reporters on Wednesday.

"According to preliminary data, seven people were injured, one of them died, three people were hospitalized, three people were treated at the scene," the report said.

According to the Emergencies Ministry a total of 12 people lived in the house. Currently, as the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported, a temporary accommodation center for 50 people has been set up for residents of the house at the local hospital. Hot meals have also been made available.

The explosion occurred around midnight in a two-story brick residential building in the village of Filinsky in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Preliminary data suggests that a gas cylinder exploded in an apartment on the ground floor. Both floors collapsed between two entrances.
