Russia’s fish shipments to EU up by 5% yoy in 11M 2025 to 198,000 tons

Pollock fillets are the key driver of the growth in Russian fish shipments to the EU

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russia increased fish shipments to the European Union by 5% in both volume and value terms from January to November 2025, reaching 198,000 tons worth $784 million, the Fisheries Union told TASS.

"Russian fish exports to the EU for the first 11 months of 2025 increased [year-on-year] by 5% in volume and 5% in value terms, reaching 198,000 tons worth $784 million, according to calculations by the Fisheries Union's analytical center based on Eurostat data," the statement read.

According to the statement, pollock fillets are the key driver of the growth in Russian fish shipments to the EU, due to increased production. Supplies of frozen pollock fillets increased by 40% in volume and by 50% in value, to 116,000 tons worth $325 million. Moreover, the growth rate of Russian pollock exports to the EU significantly outpaces supplies from the US.

Frozen cod exports from Russia to the EU decreased by 45% in volume and 15% in value, to 24,000 tons worth $160 million. Frozen cod fillets decreased by 35% in volume and 25% in value, to 13,000 tons worth $125 million. Frozen haddock fillets decreased by 50% in volume and 25% in value, to 900 tons worth $6.5 million.

Frozen Far Eastern salmon fillet shipments from Russia increased by 20% in volume and 45% in value, to 3,500 tons worth $25 million. Meanwhile, frozen surimi exports from Russia decreased by 15% in volume and remained unchanged in value, at 10,000 tons worth $17 million. Shipments of frozen Iwashi sardines from Russia totaled 10,000 tons worth $7 million (exports have resumed; previously, small shipments were made in 2019).
