MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russia’s steel production fell by 5.4% year-on-year in January reaching 5.5 million tons, according to preliminary data from the information and analytical company Chermet Corporation.

Production of finished ferrous rolled products decreased by 2.3% to 5 million tons. Iron ore production decreased by 1.1% to 9.1 million tons, and gross dry coke production decreased by 2.6% to 2 million tons.

At the same time, pig iron production increased by 0.6% to 4.5 million tons.

Steel pipe production fell by 17.2% to 700,000 tons.

Chermet Corporation was founded in 1991. According to information published on its website, the organization cooperates with all companies that own significant assets in the ferrous metallurgy industry in Russia.
