Russia’s steel output down by 5.4% in January to 5.5 mln tons — Chermet Corporation

Production of finished ferrous rolled products decreased by 2.3% to 5 million tons

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russia’s steel production fell by 5.4% year-on-year in January reaching 5.5 million tons, according to preliminary data from the information and analytical company Chermet Corporation.

Production of finished ferrous rolled products decreased by 2.3% to 5 million tons. Iron ore production decreased by 1.1% to 9.1 million tons, and gross dry coke production decreased by 2.6% to 2 million tons.

At the same time, pig iron production increased by 0.6% to 4.5 million tons.

Steel pipe production fell by 17.2% to 700,000 tons.
