BOAO /China /, March 27. /TASS/. In recent decades, the Asian region has become an engine of world economic growth, therefore, in conditions of changes, the region needs to more rely on itself and build Eurasian ties, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told reporters on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia (BAF).
"Asia has been an engine of economic growth over the past decades, it remains today. These are fast-growing economies, with a fast-growing population, rapidly growing markets. There are technologies there, there are hardworking people, literate, knowledgeable. You just need to rely more on their own forces and build relationships in Eurasia as a whole," Overchuk said.
"It is necessary to build international chains of creating added value in the region, strengthen ties between the countries of the region, to increase transport and logistics connectedness for this purpose. Mutual settlements were also discussed here," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
The Boao Forum for Asia on the east coast of the southern province of Hainan has been held regularly since 2002 and has 29 participating Asian nations. This platform for strengthening multilateral cooperation is called the "Eastern Davos." The Chinese authorities closely monitor the development of the BAF and consider it an effective tool of soft diplomacy. The large-scale conference, which runs from March 25 to 28, is attended by over 2,000 government officials, politicians, experts, and business representatives from more than 60 countries and regions.
