Russia needs to produce about 200 planes by 2030 to replace foreign ones

MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Russia needs to produce at least 200 aircraft by 2030 to replace the aging foreign planes operated by Russian airlines, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov told journalists.

"Today we cannot give the exact number because we are just beginning to discuss this issue with the airlines. I think that the minimum of about 200 planes will have to be produced to replace the aging foreign planes that are currently operated by the airlines," he said, answering a question about the required number of planes by 2030.

In early March, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said that 13 serial MC-21 and 20 SJ-100 aircraft were in various stages of readiness for production.

Earlier, UAC told TASS that about 40 MC-21 and SJ-100 aircraft are in various stages of readiness at the enterprises of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec), which was done to speed up production after certification of the Russian version of the aircraft.

Rostec CEO said earlier that serial production of MC-21 aircraft is planned to begin in 2026. The start of production of import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft is also scheduled for 2026.
