MADRID, March 11. /TASS/. Russia continues to be third in terms of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to Spain in February 2025 despite a notable dip in deliveries, according to data provided by Spanish energy company Enagas.
According to the report, Spain bought the equivalent of 2,190 GWh of LNG from Russia this February (8.3% of the total quantity). As a result, Russia took the third position for the second month in a row in terms of this fuel supply volumes to the country, behind the US (35.2% of the total volume) and Algeria (34.9%). In February 2024, Madrid purchased 5,337 GWh of gas from Russia.
Enagas earlier reported that Spain acquired 72,360 GWh of Russian LNG in 2024, compared to 72,690 GWh in 2023. Based on last year's data, Russia became the kingdom's second largest gas provider.
Russian Ambassador in Madrid Yury Klimenko said earlier that Spain was among the largest Russian LNG importers in the EU. Russian gas is supplied at competitive and attractive prices for the kingdom, the diplomat said.
