BERLIN, February 13. /TASS/. The German government plans to prolong external management of Rosneft’s German assets in the oil refinery in Schwedt, which supplies oil products to most of eastern Germany, including Berlin Airport, the DPA news agency reported citing a representative of the country’s Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
The term of external management was to expire on March 10. "Ensuring security of supplies remains the key target of all measures being assumed in relation to Rosneft Deutschland," a ministry representative said. Moreover, due to anti-Russia sanctions Rosneft Deutschland risks not to be able to make its contribution to ensuring security of supplies to Germany, the ministry noted.
"Rosneft has starkly demonstrated" that active efforts are being made on sale of Rosneft Deutschland that "is expected to be completed by the end of the year," the ministry added.
On September 16, 2022, the German government transferred Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH to the management of the Federal Network Agency of Germany. It gained control over stakes in three oil refineries: PCK in Schwedt, Miro in Karlsruhe, and Bayernoil in Vogburg. On the same day, Rosneft announced that this decision meant a complete loss of assets and that it intended to defend its interests in court. The company believed that the transfer to external management had no legal basis as all obligations were fulfilled regardless of the influence of the political situation.
