Putin expects capitalization of Russian stock market to double by 2030

The Russian authorities have particular tasks to boost capital investment, the head of state noted

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. The capitalization of the Russian stock market is going to rise about twofold by the end of this decade, reaching two-thirds of GDP, President Vladimir Putin said at the VTB Russia Calling! Investment Forum.

"To support the intention of business to invest in development, expand capacities, create jobs, we will obviously continue strengthening the stock market, support the capital’s movement to the exchange with its securities. By the end of the decade the capitalization of the Russian stock market is going to rise about twofold and reach two-thirds of gross domestic product," he said.

The Russian authorities have particular tasks to boost capital investment, Putin noted. "For many small and medium-sized companies that play an increasingly notable role in the economy, availability of loans, borrowed funds is the key factor for investment activity. Whereas here we face a particular task of ensuring a 60% increase in investment in real terms by 2030 compared with 2020," he noted.
