YAKUTSK, November 26. /TASS/. Experts will develop a digital informational and analytical system to monitor the Northern Supplies process of shipping goods to the Russian Federation's Arctic regions, Professor at the Moscow Automobile and Road State Technical University (MADI), head of the Northern Forum's Transport and Logistics Working Group Nadezhda Filippova told TASS.
"The federal law on Northern Supplies requires maximum transparency of processes and data. This task will be solved by the digital informational and analytical monitoring system that we are developing. While the Northern Supplies' digital twin is aimed at tracking goods to ports and railway stations, our informational and analytical system is aimed at improving the transport and logistics system for cargo delivery within the Arctic regions," she said.
The system is aimed at cutting disruptions and budget expenditures by optimizing processes, by improving quality of management, the quality of information received in real time, the expert added.
Northern Supplies' computerization
The Movista Arktika project's digital system is aimed at automating and digitalizing Northern Supplies. "This is a centralized solution for the regional level, which includes technical means, navigation equipment, and software tools to collect, process, store, provide, place and analyze information on Northern Supplies," she continued.
According to her, the data array allows a high share of automation in technological processes, to execute efficiently and timely deliveries to all the parties.
"The driver, transporting subsidized cargo under Northern Supplies, turns on this system. If he is transporting other goods, he turns it off, or he may prefer to use it for communication and emergency support. If something happens to him on the route, he can always turn on the system, and we will always find him, we will be the first to see him. We will be able to make prompt and correct decisions," the professor explained.
Northern Forum's support
The new project will be supported by the Northern Forum's new working group on transport and logistics, she said. The issue of setting up a working group had been raised for 15 years. The group's first meeting was during the 5th Northern Sustainable Development Forum in Yakutsk.
The working group includes nine Arctic regions, as well as experts and businesses, and the Movista Group - a leading transport operator in information technology and satellite navigation.
"Thus, we will be able to develop jointly the digitalization projects for Northern Supplies to improve logistics and have better security of settlements in the Russian Federation's Arctic Zone," the working group's leader said.
The Northern Forum is an international non-governmental organization uniting Northern regions' governors. It is a tool to expand non-political dialogues between Northern governors of different countries, heads of municipalities and organizations. The forum features regions of the Russian Federation (Yakutia, Kamchatka, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Magadan, Jewish, Nenets, Khanty-Mansi, Chukchi, Yamalo-Nenets Regions), Alaska (the USA), Gangwon Province (the Republic of Korea), as well as nine business partners from Russia, Iceland, Norway, the USA, and Japan. The Northern Forum's secretariat was located in Anchorage till 2013, and its current location is Yakutsk.
