MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. Forbes lists Gazprom as the largest capital investor in Russia as the gas producer’s investments totaled 2.3 trillion rubles in 2022.
Russian oil major Rosneft was second on the list with 1.13 trillion rubles invested in the country, followed by Atomenergoprom with 786 bln rubles worth of investment in 2022. Arctic LNG-2 (335 bln rubles), Norilsk Nickel (290 bln rubles), Moscow Metro (206 bln rubles), Tatneft (185 bln rubles), Baltic Chemical Complex (173 bln rubles), MTS (128 bln rubles) and Irkutsk Oil Company (127 bln rubles) also made it into the top ten.
This year the number of companies on the list fell from 50 to 30 as some companies did not disclose their financials. In particular, Lukoil, Russian Railways, Surgutneftegas, Novatek were notably missing from the list.
Total investments by the 30 companies included in the ranking rose by 11% in 2022 to 7 trillion rubles, according to the publication.
The rankings were based on investments made in 2022, which included purchase of fixed assets and intangible assets, purchase of non-controlling interest, investments in joint and associated companies, as well as acquisition of new businesses. The publication used financial and accounting statements, as well as figures provided by Russia’s Federal Tax Service and Rosstat, as sources.
