Kazakhstan to boost supplies of its oil via Azerbaijan — Tokayev

The Kazakh leader also stressed the importance of fully untapping the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route

ASTANA, April 10. /TASS/. Kazakh authorities intend to boost volumes of oil exported from the republic through Azerbaijan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told a briefing on Monday following the talks with his Azerbaijan’s counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

"We especially focused on boosting energy cooperation. Our today’s prior task is to continue diversifying energy supplies to global markets. As you know thanks to our agreements the first batch of Kazakh oil was delivered through Azerbaijan this year. The next step is to increase supply volumes and to make them long-term and stable," Tokayev was quoted as saying by his press service.

The Kazakh leader also stressed the importance of fully untapping the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. "The issue is about improving logistics services, creating single transport operators, upgrading technical and tariff conditions, removing administrative barriers and forming a closed logistical cycle. The efficient implementation of the roadmap for development of the Central corridor for 2022-2027 is very important. We reached an agreement that it is necessary to fully use the mounting interest in this route and involve third countries in its infrastructure development. All those measures, as well as close interaction with our international partners will permit guaranteeing stability and prompt delivery of cargoes in the East-West direction," he noted.
