Russia says in contact with Turkish authorities on transit of goods

Russia’s embassy and trade mission in Ankara are figuring out the reason of problems with registration of trade transactions by a number of Russian firms in Turkey

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russia is in contact with the Turkish authorities on the issue of transit of goods, which has allegedly been suspended by Ankara as requested by restrictions against Moscow imposed by Western countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told reporters on Tuesday.

"We are currently in contact with the Turkish authorities, I would not make comment, it is necessary to look into the matter," he said when asked about suspension of cargo transit to Russia by Turkey.

Earlier, Kommersant and Vedomosti newspaper wrote citing Russian logistics companies that Ankara had allegedly suspended transit of sanctioned cargoes flowing to Russia through its territory. The Turkish customs service blocks cargoes for Russia at special stores if they arrive from countries that imposed anti-Russia sanctions, according to the reports.
