EAEU’s strategic tasks, digital transformation to be discussed at Eurasian economic forum

The Eurasian Economic Forum is scheduled for May 24-25 in the run-up to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Union’s (EAEU) strategic tasks and digital transformation have been defined as preliminary topics of the second Eurasian Economic Forum, the trade bloc of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Due to the forum’s drive to promote the Union in today’s context, the thematic sessions and dialogue events will touch upon the most relevant topics of the international agenda, such as ideological fundamentals of modern Eurasianism, the EAEU’s strategic tasks for decades ahead, digital transformation, climate challenges and the Union’s consolidated response," the statement reads.

"Moreover, energy, food security, the relationship with SCO, BRICS, ASEAN countries have been defined as relevant subjects," the EEC’s trade bloc added.

The program committee discussed the concept and possible program of the second Eurasian Economic Forum at the platform of the Eurasian Economic Commission with heads of EAEU members participating. The meeting of the committee was chaired by EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev. Representatives of competent agencies and business circles of EAEU nations, as well as the EEC’s business units, discussed the holding of events on the sidelines of the upcoming forum, the EEC said.

The Eurasian Economic Forum is scheduled for May 24-25 in the run-up to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Heads of EAEU countries are expected to partake in its plenary sessions. According to the EEC’s regulatory acts, the Eurasian Economic Forum is held annually in the country chairing the EAEU, which means this year it will be held in Russia.
