ST. PETERSBURG, June 17. /TASS/. The nation’s top prosecutor has vowed to defend the rights of foreign companies that continue to conscientiously work on the Russian market, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said on Friday.
"We don’t categorize honest companies as ‘friend-or-foe’," he emphasized at a session on the rights of businesses in Russia and abroad at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). "At meetings with foreign colleagues, I always stress that foreign investments in Russia are securely protected with prosecution agencies serving as guarantors," the official added.
"The companies that conscientiously fulfill their obligations will always receive due support and protection from the prosecutor’s office. Any evidence of their rights having been violated or excessive attention on the part of regulating agencies will be undoubtedly curbed," he stressed. "Of course, this fully concerns both domestic companies and foreign investors, and those companies that work here in our country, as well as foreign entrepreneurs," the official explained.
When discussing interaction with businesses, he noted that "there are lots of examples when both foreign companies and Russian entrepreneurs help people who found themselves in difficult circumstances, socially disadvantaged segments of the population, children, families with multiple children, disabled people, retirees and veterans." "All of this commands respect and I am confident that thanks to the mutual efforts of businesses and the state, the consequences of the illegal sanctions introduced against our country will be surmounted, the conducive investment climate will be preserved and the general course to bolster Russia’s economy will continue," the prosecutor general emphasized.
