NIZHNY NOVGOROD, June 2. /TASS/. The ban set by Taiwan on supplies of certain microprocessors to Russia is not critical, Deputy Minister of Industry Vasily Shpak told TASS on Thursday.
"The prohibition of delivering many high-technology microelectronic goods to our country became effective in Taiwan as early as from the start of the special military operation. It existed by default and was not formalized in a separate documents. It has merely becomes formalized at present," the official said. "This is not something new or tragic for us," Shpak said.
The ban covers the latest and the most cutting-edge processors, he added.
It was reported earlier today that Taiwan banned export of microchips with the clock frequency above 25 MHz to Russia and Belarus. Devices with performance above 5 Gigaflops are also prohibited for export.
