AB InBev brewery will sell stake in its Russian joint venture

The company continues to support its employees and their families

BRUSSELS, April 22. /TASS/. The international brewing corporation Anheuser-Busch InBev plans to sell its stake in the AB InBev Efes joint venture in Russia and is in active discussions with its partner, Turkish company Anadolu Efes, to acquire this interest, the corporation announced in a press release on Friday.

The corporation is to stop investing in the joint venture and will post a loss of $1.1 billion in the first quarter.

"Together with its partner, AB InBev continues to support its employees, their families and the humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Support for its displaced employees and their families includes counseling, housing and financial support," the press release says.

AB InBev Efes is a joint venture of AB InBev and Anadolu Efes in Russia. Anadolu Efes holds a controlling stake in the joint venture.

Talking to TASS, a spokesperson at AB InBev Efes confirmed that the shareholders of Anadolu Efes and AB InBev entered into active negotiations regarding the sale of AB InBev's non-controlling stake in the Russian joint venture AB InBev Efes to Anadolu Efes.

"We do not comment on shareholders' negotiations. Our operations in Russia continue as before," the spokesperson said.
