Russian Pacific Fleet warships arrive at Vietnamese port of Cam Ranh

The visit of Russian military sailors will last until December 4

HANOI, December 2. /TASS/. A detachment of warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet consisting of the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev and the medium sea tanker Pechenga has arrived at Vietnam's Cam Ranh International Port on a working visit, a TASS correspondent reported.

Welcoming the sailors, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Timur Sadykov pointed to the importance of Russian ships arriving at Cam Ranh Port. "Cam Ranh is a very important port for our country. For more than two decades, it has faithfully and truly served as a logistical support point for the ships of the Pacific Fleet. It was here that the traditions of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples of the Soviet Union and Vietnam were established," the diplomat emphasized.

"The visits of Russian military sailors to Vietnam's ports, which have become regular in recent years, significantly contribute to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the interests of peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region and the world," Sadykov told TASS.

The visit of the Russian Pacific Fleet warships will last until December 4. In the coming days, the sailors will meet with the command of the 4th Regional Command of the Vietnam People's Navy, the leadership of the People's Committee (administration) of the Khanh Hoa Province, as well as hold joint friendly sports competitions with Vietnamese sailors and visit the sights of Nha Trang.
