Ukrainian army shells penitentiary in Gorlovka, no casualties — mayor

Earlier, the Ukrainian army shelled a pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka, in the Donetsk People’s Republic

DONETSK, November 29. /TASS/. The Ukrainian forces shelled a penitentiary in Gorlovka on Tuesday. There were no casualties, the city’s mayor, Ivan Prikhodko, has said.

"The Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka was shelled. A number of buildings of a local penitentiary were damaged. There were no casualties," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

It was the sixth bombardment on this penitentiary since September 22. One of them was carried out from a helicopter on October 5. Fortunately, as the mayor's office noted, there were no casualties in all cases.

Earlier, the Ukrainian army shelled a pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka, in the Donetsk People’s Republic. On September 19 one Ukrainian prisoner of war was killed and five others were wounded. On July 29, the same pre-trial detention center was attacked with a US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, killing 50 Ukrainians. Another 73 prisoners of war were taken to medical institutions with serious injuries. Eight detention center employees were injured. The DPR authorities said such shellings were an attempt to eliminate witnesses who had begun to testify against Kiev.
