PARIS, April 28. /TASS/. The voting in the French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) has confirmed that the majority of people in France favor the abolition of the anti-Russian sanctions, member of the Republicans center-right political party and former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said on Thursday.
"Most French people are in favor of lifting the sanctions. Today’s voting showed this. Even the ruling Socialist Party was unable to block the relevant resolution," he said following parliamentary session.
The draft resolution calls on the French government "not to extend the restrictive measures and economic sanctions imposed by the European Union against the Russian Federation." Only part of the 577 parliamentarians took part in the voting. The resolution is non-binding.
