Ukrainian media report air defense system failure in Kiev

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier reported that during a massive strike with Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal, and Tsirkon missiles in Kiev and the Kiev region, the Russian Armed Forces hit Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities

MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Ukraine's air defense system failed to repel Russian missile strikes on military facilities in Kiev and the Kiev region last night, the Strana outlet reported, citing sources.

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier reported that during a massive strike with Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal, and Tsirkon missiles in Kiev and the Kiev region, the Russian Armed Forces hit Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities, command posts of the Ground Forces Main Command, and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

According to the publication, "Ukrainian monitoring channels acknowledge that the air defense system failed to successfully repel these attacks and that there were many incoming strikes. Even according to official data from the Armed forces of Ukraine’s Air Force Command, not a single Kinzhal or Tsirkon missile was shot down."

Strana's sources attribute this to a shortage of missiles for US-made air defense systems. Several other Ukrainian media outlets suggested that the missiles are simply being rationed.
