Poland’s Electoral Commission tallies 99.7% of votes, runoff ahead

According to the calculations, Rafal Trzaskowski has garnered 31.2%, with Karol Nawrocki trailing with 29.7%

MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. Rafal Trzaskowski, a candidate from Poland’s ruling centrist Civic Coalition, and Karol Nawrocki, representing the opposition Law and Justice Party, are heading to a runoff after the National Electoral Commission counted 99.7% of the vote.

According to these calculations, Trzaskowski has garnered 31.2%, with Nawrocki trailing with 29.7%. The ruling coalition’s candidate is in the lead in the country’s northern, western and central regions, while the opposition nominee is favored in Poland’s south and east.

Slawomir Mentzen from the right-wing political party New Hope is in third place with 14.8%, followed by another right-wing candidate Grzegorz Braun with 6.4%.

They are followed by Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holownia with 5% and left-wing candidates Adrian Zandberg (4.8%) and Magdalena Biejat (4.2%). Other candidates have garnered from 0.1% to 1.2% of the vote.

Abroad, after tallying 100% of the votes, Trzaskowski has received 36.82%, followed by Mentzen with 16.58% and Nawrocki with 16.07%.

The first round of the presidential election was held in Poland on May 18. The National Electoral Commission plans to announce the official election results on the evening of May 19 or the morning of May 20. The runoff election will be held on June 1.
