India's First Deputy Foreign Minister Vikram Misri said people who crossed the border from India can use this route to return until May 1, 2025

NEW DELHI, April 23. /TASS/. India is closing the key Atari checkpoint on the border with Pakistan following a terrorist attack in the Indian territory of Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, India's First Deputy Foreign Minister Vikram Misri said at a news conference.

"The Atari integrated checkpoint will be closed immediately," he said.

Misri said people who crossed the border from India can use this route to return until May 1, 2025.

The Indian diplomat also said New Delhi was immediately suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, a 1960 agreement on water sharing between India and Pakistan.

"The Indus Waters Treaty will be suspended until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably ends its support to cross-border terrorism," Misri said.
